Brusco Tug & Barge History.
Brusco Tug & Barge, Inc. was formed
in 1984 to provide log towing services on the Columbia River for
the Timber Industry and wood chip transportation along the West Coast
for the Pulp and Paper Mills. The Brusco family had long been active
providing inland tug service, log dumping and rafting, as well as
dredging service and log salvage for many years prior to the formation
of Brusco Tug & Barge, Inc. The company is still serving the
Timber Industry despite the endangered species act that virtually
stopped
regional
logging creating the need to move logs and wood chips to the local
mills from sources of far greater distances.
Creativity, technology,
and innovation have placed Brusco in a position to better serve
their customers' needs by barging logs on ocean vessels rather than
towing
them, opening new geographic areas for timber resources. This has
greatly enhanced Brusco's tremendous growth. The company continues
to transport wood chips on the West Coast, but with increased capacity.
Our ability to supply the necessary equipment and professional
crews to perform ocean towing and barging service has been well received
by contractors, freight
and
cargo
shippers,
and
dredging contractors.
Brusco's currrent ship assist services
include the ports of Stockton, Sacramento, Eureka, and Port Hueneme,
California
as well as Grays Harbor, Washington. A variety of services have been
developed in the San Francisco Bay area, which include towing dredge
scows to sea, as well as off loading dredge spoils into upland disposals
utilizing one of our barge mounted clamshell derricks. The company
currently holds the contract to barge salmon yearlings for the U.S.
Corps of Engineers on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Our management
team is enthusiastically exploring other growth areas in our present
markets
and those we have not yet served.
